Disability Arts
Since the time Kalapremi’s inception, we have consciously worked towards supporting and promoting disabled artists. The first of the artist to perform in the region was the child-prodigy ‘Maruthi Prasad’, a visually-challenged Indian vocalist in 1993. The ‘Natyanjali’ group of dancers consisting of sighted and visually-challenged dancers toured with Kalapremi in 1995, 1998 and 2000. Following their successful tours another group consisting of sighted and visually-challenged dancers ‘Articulate’ toured in 2008. The successful tours with disabled artists have attracted immense media attention and have provided a source of inspiration and motivation to our audiences in the region and beyond.
